Since we started #ELTchat in September 2010, we have discussed a wide number of topics, but with many new members joining our conversations every week, it is very natural that we will get requests for topics which we “have done”.

    How do you balance teaching for fluency and teaching for accuracy in grammar and vocabulary?this topic is suggested as food for thought on the Eve of iTDi’s course of the same title. We will, of course, need to define accuracy and fluency in the beginning of the eltchat. Although elt chats have previously dealt with wither fluency or accuracy, I don’t believe they’ve been juxtaposed this way before, so it might be fun to have a go!

  2. How can we help students to find ideas for speaking and writing activities and be more creative?

  3. A few ideas for the ELTChat:

    1. How can flashcards be used in the classroom? (just blogged about this actually)
    2. How to deal with bullying in your school.
    3. Tips and advice for summer schools.

    Do certificates matter? Do some teachers need the recognition to prove that they have taken part? Does it inform change?
