Suggest some topics for this week’s #ELTchat
Please post your topics for our next #ELTchat on Wednesday, June 29th. The highest polling suggestions from last week that were not chosen will automatically be added to this week’s poll but is there anything else that you think might make a good topic for Wednesday’s chat!
Top choice will be discussed at 12:00 PM & 2nd choice at 21:00 P.M.

How to choose topics for #ELTchat Discussions
Since we started #ELTchat last September, we have discussed a wide number of topics, but with many new members joining our conversations every week, it is very natural that we will get requests for topics which we “have done”.
Please, include topics which
- have not been covered already in previous #ELTchats
- are relevant to ELT teachers and teaching foreign languages
- are not targeted attacks on individuals or institutions
- are simply and clearly expressed.
The #ELTchat moderators reserve the right not to post comments or to include them in the poll if they do not follow the above guidelines.
Before you propose a topic, do please check the transcripts index on this blog or go to the #ELTchat wiki and click on the Transcripts or Summaries Links to see what has been covered so far.
If you see your topic but would still like to discuss a different aspect or set of issues, do submit it and we will consider including it again!

How do you promote critical thinking in your classes?
How about: Professional Development over the summer. This can include paid courses but also taking the time to learn how to use certain online or other tools now that we have the time.
Another idea: New Year’s Resolutions for teachers – (because we’re headed towards another school year).
Teaching language to immigrants. ESOL in the UK public sector is focused on this, but I’d love to know what happens in other countries. #eltchat to go multi lingual!
How about a ‘what works for our students – Internet resources for ELT’
e.g. web sites, web 2.0 tools etc – we might get loads of links and ideas for projects / lessons from this
What about Google + and new insights into teaching !! as it’s relatively new and being tried these days, so we can discuss its features and how it might help teachers and students enhance their teaching or Learning ??!! I guess it will help alot of ELTeachers !! Thanks !! 🙂
Sorry your suggestion came in after the poll had been made though maybe the topic will be better when more people have access to google + and have had chance to evaluate it?
Can I second Mike’s suggestion. Ask UK ESOL faces hugs cuts, how do other countries fund language classes for their migrant workers??
