I’d like to discuss how teachers can promote “peace” as a curriculum subject. Particularly given how many of us are “cultural ambassadors” bridging the gulf between peoples. Activities, sites, resources, tips….

  2. Sandy Millin says:

At my school we’re in testing season, so I thought it might be a good idea to discuss a related question:
“Should we test students? If we do, how? If we don’t, what should we do instead?”

    Motivating 14 to 16 year-olds.

I’m a non-native teacher working with a group 14 to 16 year-old Russians. Most of them have been enrolled by their parents; their motivation is very low. While they’ve basically accepted the fact that I never speak Russian in class, they hardly ever use English when talking to each other. Techniques that have proven to be extremely efficient with my adult groups or with younger teens are simply useless here. What shall I do?

  4. This blog post from Jason Renshaw and the comments following might be a good topic to start a conversation…
The (un)butcher(ed) script: What happens when we unpackage ELT scripts (or don’t package them to start with)?

  5. Sue Annan says:

How do we convince our bosses that the use of technology in class is not just an easy option for the lazy teacher?

  6. Thanks to all who submitted topics here and on Twitter.

    To Lesley Cioccareli:

Sorry I did not include your very interesting topic – this was just an oversight and I would be happy to include it for our next #ELTchat if you don’t mind resubmitting it.
