If you are proposing a topic, please make every effort to join the chat if your topic is chosen. Please also note that the chat moderators do monitor the voting. Since we started #ELTchat in September 2010, we have discussed a wide number of topics, but with many new members joining our conversations every week, it is very natural that we will get requests for topics which we “have done”.

- are relevant to ELT teachers and teaching foreign languages
- are not targeted attacks on individuals or institutions

In his Q&A session on Saturday, Sugata Mitra posited that ELT teachers may be insecure of their place and position in the world. This seems like a good topic for a chat
I would possibly suggest ONE of the following topics:
1. The Role of the Cohesive Group in the EFL Classroom
2. Are EFL/ESL teachers required to conduct effective research?
If my previous topics have not made you intrigued, I would propose the following one, please:
– Online Peer Assessment/Evaluation
Putting all the topic suggestions on ice for next week’s poll – this #ELTchat has been cancelled
Are seemingly inefficient approaches to teaching helping our students as Kathleen Graves suggests? Or do we need to look into improving our efficiency in the classroom?
While some totally reject MI and NLP altogether, others express ‘heavy-duty scepticism’ but some believe they’re essential to analyse students’ needs. Were NLP and MI ever essential to plan a good lesson?
